The war in Ukraine continues, but at the Slush Helsinki 2022 event, organised from 17 to 18 November, the eyes will turn to the future and into helping Ukrainian companies. PwC Finland is a key participant in a project led by the Slush organisation, which enables ten Ukrainian startup companies to participate in the event. In addition to PwC Finland, the project is financed by Illusian Family Office and Aiven Oy. Slush is organising the project together with the Ukrainian Startup Fund, NGO Evolve and Advicera. The goal of the project is to help demonstrate the sustainability of Ukrainian startup companies in the midst of war and to help strengthen their partnerships with the European startup ecosystem.
Ukraine's most promising startups coming to Slush were selected for the project through a pitching competition. At Slush, the Ukrainian startup delegation gets a free exhibition stand and entry to the event, as well as free travel and accommodation.
- At Slush, Ukrainian startup companies get an opportunity to advance their business by presenting their operations and making contacts with investors and partners, says PwC’s partner Marko Korkiakoski.
Supporting both entrepreneurship and Ukraine is important to PwC.
- PwC has been supporting entrepreneurs in Finland for almost 70 years, so this is a key theme for us. Correspondingly, supporting Ukraine is a natural cause for us as PwC has operations and employees in Ukraine, and the situation there has touched us in many ways. In this project, we can combine our support for Ukrainian entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship, and what would be a better place to do this than Slush, our partner of 12 years.
- Ukraine has an active startup field and a rapidly growing startup ecosystem. It is important to continue developing this innovation potential to support Ukraine's recovery and to help solve today's important problems, Korkiakoski continues.
