What is Edge programme?

Edge is a two-year graduate programme tailored by PwC across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to launch your career in an international Deals environment.

The candidates selected for the programme will kick-start their careers as Deals professionals and have an opportunity to develop their skills in two different teams.You may have an opportunity for international exchange in another PwC country. PwC Finland’s Deals Graduates will be based in our Helsinki office.

Edge programme

Edge programme

During the program, you will work in two different teams, with one of them being your home team. You will start the program in your home team for a duration of 10 months and then transition to the other team for another 10 months. Following this period, you will return to your home team.

With the support of the global PwC Network, hands-on coaching and a wide variety of project work, you will develop business, personal and technical skills that you can leverage throughout your professional life.

Valuation, Debt and Capital Advisory (VDC)

  • The Valuation, Debt & Capital Advisory focuses on complex valuations of companies and other assets as well as on helping clients raise debt and capital to strengthen their future growth prospects 
  • The team is focused on the following areas: 
    • Different kinds of valuations, in connection with M&A transactions but also for example for tax-purposes 
    • Issues related to the client’s capital structure and refinancing 
    • Financial modeling for different purposes, e.g. in connection to valuations, debt & capital raising and M&A transactions 
  • As an Edge Associate you will get the opportunity to join projects in all areas of the VDC-team. You will get to build advanced financial models, perform valuations of different entities as well as prepare bank materials for lender negotiations. 

Corporate Finance (CF)

Measured by deal volume, PwC is the leading Corporate Finance advisor in Finland, across Nordics and Globally. 

The Corporate Finance team typically takes the overall project responsibility for the transaction. We prepare process documentation and valuation, advice on tactics, manage communication with counterparties, support in transaction negotiations and decision making and co-ordinate the process and other advisors’ work. We often also assist in financial modeling, evaluation of synergies, providing comments on due diligence reports commissioned, transaction financing and selecting the optimal purchase price. Our clientele ranges from corporations to private equities and family-owned businesses.  

As an Edge associate in Corporate Finance, you will typically get to:   

  • Prepare both project and pitch material
  • Conduct target company information gathering and analysis  
  • Conduct target company competitive landscape and market analysis  
  • Conduct valuations and financial modeling 
  • Identify potential buyer candidates 
  • Attend and present your work in both internal and client meetings

M&A Integration and Separation Services (DDV)

  • The Delivering Deal Value (DDV) team focuses on implementing clients’ M&A strategies and helping them to design & capture deal value in integrations and carve-outs 
  • The team works with large corporations and private equity clients in buy-side and sell-side in multiple industries and across territories. We support clients in every phase of the deal cycle and work closely with the teams of Strategy&, Consulting and Transaction Services to deliver impactful results 
  • Typical projects include synergy assessments, integration planning and value capture facilitation, carve-out design, due diligence and integration/separation program management 
  • As an Edge associate you will get to experience the different stages of M&A deals through facilitating the development of value creation levers, building financial projections, preparing client presentations, supporting integration or carve-out program management office and workstreams, and tracking deal synergy realization 
  • Furthermore, you will get to join a diverse, welcoming and motivated team that places a high value on fostering the team’s common culture and supporting every individual’s professional growth 

Financial Due Diligence (FDD)

  • The Financial Due Diligence (FDD) team of around 35 professionals is the largest of the three teams within PwC Finland Transaction Services 
  • Typical projects of the FDD team include financial due diligences (buy-side), vendor due diligences (sell-side), vendor assistance (sell-side), IPO due diligences, independent business reviews, and ESG due diligences for either corporate clients, PE houses or debt providers 
  • The FDD team assists clients by conducting comprehensive financial reviews to evaluate the target businesses, and by highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the target businesses. The focus is on the sustainability and sources of profit and cash, free cash flows, key risks and sensitivity analysis 
  • As an Edge Associate you will be an integral part of the team and have the opportunity to analyze income statements, balance sheets, operational matters, and business plans thoroughly to understand the target’s business model and to form meaningful insights. In your daily work you will leverage data analytics, actively participate in interviews, and prepare reports and other client materials.

Capital Market Accounting Advisory Services (CMAAS)

The Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory team is a relatively small but versatile team within PwC Finland. CMAAS professionals advise clients on complex accounting advisory and financial reporting issues around deals and other transformational business events that may impact an organization’s value. These events, where CMAAS is involved include: 

  • IPO’s 
  • Debt and Share Issues 
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Divestitures 
  • Accounting Policy Changes 
  • Finance Transformation 

During these events, CMAAS team can provide general advice on how to run these processes, or more detailed support depending on the situation by for example: providing comfort letters, reviewing prospectus information, preparing carve-out and pro forma financial statements, providing IFRS/accounting advice, preparing PPA valuations or supporting in finance transformation projects. In addition to their own services, CMAAS works in close collaboration with transaction services and corporate reporting services in a multitude of different projects. 

Working in CMAAS allows you to gain experience in working with large company transactions such as IPO processes and share issues and gain advanced expertise on financial reporting and IFRS. 

You bring the attitude

Are you an ambitious and dedicated high potential ready to enter the M&A advisory world? The ideal candidate will:

  • have recently graduated with a master's degree within the field of Business, Economics or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), or other relevant area

  • have some work experience from e.g. M&A transaction advisory, strategy, accounting, finance or management consulting

  • be fluent in English. Fluency in Finnish and Swedish is a distinct advantage

  • have strong data and analytics skills

In addition, you are a dedicated team player with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. We value analytical thinkers who are capable of solving problems in a structured way. We work in an international environment which requires that you’re comfortable with working in a multicultural environment.
